What the hell is this?

a hdd..your primary hdd by the looks...not sure why it would be in safely remove, but that function is squirrelly sometimes

Please search; this gets asked weekly (and this is about the third time this week). SATA2 controllers that support hot-swap (like the ones on the NForce4 chipset) show the drives as 'removable' devices in Windows. Because they *are* removable.

thanks for the help. is there any way to get it out of there, because I dont think I want to be removing my only hard drive

You can hide the icon by right-clicking the system tray. I'm pretty sure Windows won't let you disconnect the OS drive even if you try...
