What the hell is this and how do I kill it?

I have tried spraying it off which I did yesterday.... this is what came back in one day. I figure it is some kind of fungus or mold and it's disgusting. There are even areas elsewhere on the mulch where it looks like someone threw up.

It tends to look yellowish in the morning and afternoon and then this nasty brown in the evening.

Yeah it seems to be dog vomit slime mold.... and it's rather annoying. There doesnt seem to be a good option to get rid of it either. I know the cause... they keep piling more and more mulch each time and never clear the old stuff. It's my homeowners associations fault and our crappy landscapers.

Try cutting down on the watering.

Oh and slime molds are freaking awesome. In the microbiology world they're a combination of airborne rangers and the Mongol horde.

eat it and report back after you trip balls.

this principle should be applied to any unknown substance encountered.

Is the area shaded and moist?

It's not really moist, it is in the sun during the first 4-5 hours of the day but then it's shade.

As for eatting it... I've read it actually isn't harmful if you do lol... still not recommended.

Yeah, slime mold - some of my mulch got some after the endless rain we had earlier this month. A diluted bleach solution would probably kill that crap, but just to be safe, kill it with fire.
