What the hell is racism?

I don't know why you people differenciate other people of different countries a different race.

the main thing i think is that people just dont like change and when new races came in, well, you get my drift......😉

<< I don't know why you people differenciate other people of different countries a different race. >>

I do not understand your statement, or question, whatever it is. Also, to whom do you refer with "you people"?

Racism...why I rightly reckon that's when them teenagers get out on ol route 42 and race their cars against each other.

Just Kidding, no clue why people differentiate people of different countries of a different race.
Thing is you mentioned racism... racism to my knowledge is discrimination of a person due to their origin. Like say an oriental person discriminating against a mexican person just because they are mexican. It's wrong but unfortunately it has yet to stop. 🙁

Racism is a horrible word, because most everyone is racist. But to what degree? Can it be justified if I'm just a little bit racist? That's where it gets complicated.

Kroze, I'm not seeing where you're going with this. There are obvious reasons. I feel that more importantly than differentiating by race is differentiating by culture, especially in the United States.
I'm American...but I'm also Hmong. And I make sure people know I'm Hmong when they ask me if I'm Chinese or Korean...I like being different.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you meant...??

I see what he's trying to get at. Race is split three-ways into caucasoid, negroid, and mongoloid. Ethnicity is what everyone means when they say race.

actually..bomberman really didnt make a good point because #1, a race can be defined as a group of people classified together on the basis of their geographical location, and #2 some asians are offended by the term "mongoloid" because its associated w/ down syndrome.

out of curiousity, what group do mexican people fit into? caucasian?

<< And this is coming from a talking dog? >>

ahha

IMO...since mexicans are 1/2 american indian, 1/2 spanyard....i dunno. id consider a spanyard caucasian...and a native american as asian. thats a stumper. id say they fit into a group of there own, with the rest of central and southern america.

Some traits are split along those lines. There is only one race 🙂

Phtt!! Get over it.
Everyone has at least some racism in them. It's human nature.
I'm more worried about people who claim to be void of any prejudice or racism at all.

Here is my question: ( I don't mean to offend anyone, just curious)

Are cultural/nationality stereotypes considered to be a form of racism?

Some of the ones I've heard: (once again, don't mean to offend)

Mexicans and/or Hispanics are lazy
British are uptight
Italians are hot-tempered

I've heard others that are a bit more negative, but very common and I hear them all the time.
Are stereotypes a by-product of racism? are they true?

Perhaps my question should be if they are appropriate; something tells me they're not.
what do you guys think?

Actually, in my opinion, each race is very diversed. We all have our nerds, hot-heads, couch-potatoes, genuises, greedy people, ugly people, fat people, thin people, beautiful people, etc....

You name any race, and I'm sure me or someone else in this forum can give you example of each.
