Ok, I did a fresh install of win2k, surf the net, turn off computer, repetition of that a few times. Finally system got laggy and I was like WTF, so I reboot only to come to a lovely NTLDR IS MISSING!

I format, install win2k again, this was just last night. I turned off my computer, went home. Come this afternoon, NTLDR IS MISSING!

What the hell is that, and what can I do to fix it?

I have a KT7133-Raid
Duron 800@800
256 Crucial pc133 ram
quantum 20.5 gig ata/100 hdd
geforce mx
creative cd rom drive

Thats my system

Please help me out!

I hate to have to always keep formatting.

***UPDATE***

Please help me, I'm in some desperate measures right now. It happend again. I fdisked/formatted tried clean installation, no go. The NTLDR is missing comes after a certain amount of time I guess. I can keep rebooting and it won't give me that error, but when I keep the computer on for long periods of time and i reboot it usually gives me the NTLDR error.

I'm now thinking hard drive is broken some how. Please help me in any more ways you can!

Its the bootup file for Win2K, almost like the command.com for DOS, but of corse different.

Yeah, I'm doing fresh installs. I checked those other posts about the NTLDR MISSING. It has nothing to do with me.

I fresh install, reboot a few times, them BAM, it hits me up with a NTLDR IS MISSING. I had no floppy in FDD, or anything like that.

PLEASE HELP!

Point taken, I've only seen it in conjunction with an upgrade.

Do you have the HD on the HighPoint controller? Maybe try it on the VIA IDE ports and just see if that works.

HighPoint? What the hell is that?

I have them on the non-raid ide channels.

ERRR this is very confusing.

I take it that I may have a damaged HDD.

Is your harddrive firmly conencted at both the IDE and the power connectors?
Becasue I believe that error occurs when it cannot detect your main boot partition.

Sorry, I'm kind of stupid. What am I supposed to do with those diagnostic tools? Or which one am I supposed to download?

Did you previously have a dual boot setup on your harddrive... Does this have anything to do with the MBR...?

yeah you see, i never had a dual boot, but i never got to fdisk this drive in the first place. my floppy or boot disk is broken, so when i tried to use the boot disk it just tells me that theres an i/o erro and to replace the disk with a working one and press enter. so i just used the cd to format the hard drive and install windows. is there anywhere i can get a new bootdisk somewhere on the net or something?

the hdd was brand new when i installed win2k and go the ntldr error.

Boot from 2k cd, when prompted about what to do, use the repair option, and rewrite the MBR.
If this happens alot, I would guess either HD failure or MBR Virus....
this will make it so you don't have to totally reinstall, but it takes damn near the same amount of time
