A Fort Worth man trying to scratch an itch on his back used a revolver and accidentally shot himself.

Jorge Espinal, 44, was drinking beer and playing poker around 3 a.m. Sunday in his home in the 3500 block of Montague Street, when he got up from the table and walked into another room, said Fort Worth police Lt. Kenneth Dean.

To me, the single sounds like a very clear return to the Blue/Pinkerton songwriting and production style. They laid off the Pro-Tooled polish of the last few albums for a return to that massive lo-fi guitar tone, rougher vocals, and sarcastic self-absorbed lyrics. All of which are plenty good in my book. I'll take it over the last few albums, hands-down. I couldn't even bring myself to buy the last album because it was so bland.

The song in the OP's link should come as no surprise to anyone who heard River's demo album. Rivers has been chasing the ghost of pre-brain-damaged Brian Wilson since Weezer was first formed. He's closer than ever. And the track is fucking EPIC.

It's really popular among high school/college students to boldly proclaim that bands have sold out and that their old material is better. Of course these people were 4 years old when the first album came out and have absolutely no idea what they're talking about, but apparently that's not enough to keep them from talking about it.
