I don't eat it often, but sometimes I have a craving for reeses cups, twix or kit kat. I used to buy those 10 pack bags for $1 (maybe ~2 years ago). Today I crave some and it's 6 for 1.50 ( I think they went to 8 and then now 6). I understand things get more expensive and the .50 isn't a deal breaker but at this rate I can't see how families can afford the other stuff at the store. Seems everyone is out to squeeze every joe family out of every nickel before the other company/gov squeezes him.

Price of the candy has gone up, the number of bars in a pack has gone down, the size of the actual bars has also gone down.

I bought a twix bar the other day and it was the smallest I've ever seen them. I think they shrunk again in the past few weeks.

They're also replacing some of the cocoa butter with cheaper PGPR, though this shift has evidently been going on for several years now.

Mmmm....I certainly love to have lots of functionality in my candy bars.

I bought a pack of regular Oreos a few months back and they were absolutely pitiful. Hardly any filling or flavor. Might as well have been munching on dry rice. Those little Oreo 100 calorie thin crisp packs have more flavor to 'em.

In fact I've found the 100 cal packs in general to have better taste and texture then their full size brethren.

When I want chocolate I go to Aldi and buy... chocolate bars. 150g of good stuff is about a buck and a half and lasts three days to a week, depending on mood.

One factor is the price of sugar is about 5 times higher in the US than anywhere else in the world, due to government programs that restrict sugar imports and at the same time give out millions to giant sugar companies to limit their production.

Amen. Swiss/German chocolate is the shit.

Whatever else shouldn't be even called chocolate.

Have you seen the kids today? Joe families last concern should be how they can afford chocolate.
