also, i could tell you were a republican by claiming to be stoic and standing by to commense the beating of your child once the soldiers stopped. i'd even venture a guess and say you're either from texas or kentucky.

I never said I would beat him, I said I would start in on him. My beating would be much more effective because it would be psychological. You are right. I am definitely a Republican and damn proud of it too, but I am not religious at all so that probably messed up your stereotype.

messes up my stereotype? when did i ever say you were religious? stoicism has nothing to do with religion, dude... i dunno what they teach you over in kentucky or texas or whichever one of those two states you're from.

Its stupidity like this that'll cost you poeple Iraq...

Considering all it seems to take to offend them is a cartoon these days it would seem that anything short of kissing their collecitve asses would result in a riot.

Not condoning the actions of the brits mind you but it reminds me of the old Sam Kinneson joke: "I don't agree with beating your wife. I understand it... but I don't agree with it."

ignorance at its best, ladies and gentlemen.

Actually there is NO way to really deal with these people. They are basically nothing more than religiosly driven animals. They don't understand much of anything to do with true civilization. I just want us to get the hell out of there and then they can kill each other all they want. Unfortunately we can't just pack up and leave.

Just curious... but if they didn't already think that before... why were they throwing rocks at the soldiers?

are you kidding?

If they thought the soldiers were there for reasons positive to them, why were they out rioting against them? Riddle me that one Batman.

i say we temporarily move Israel to Alaska and tell the Middle East that the land is up for grabs. then after they kill each other we can move back in.

obviously, they don't think the soldiers were there for reasons positive to them. however, when you invade a country and say that you're there for reasons that are positive to them, you try and prove it. the citizens of that tiny community obviously were showing their disgust towards being occupied while preaching freedom, so they chucked small objects like rocks (a common occurance in any rivalry, whether it be communists and nationalists, catholics and protestants, muslims or jews, michigan fans or ohio state fans, pittsburgh steeler fans and the local swat team, whatever). whenever people feel oppressed and the homeostasis of their community has been disrupted, there is an inflammatory response...

whooping the apple butter out of some people who threw rocks at you is hardly a gesture of benevolence to the community.

Let the Christian riots begin.

pssst... your ignorance is showing, again.

shockingly enough, different religions have different religious laws. not only that, but we live in a very heterogenous society where that kind of stuff can fly.... the middle east is EXTREMELY homogenous. in extremely homogenized societies, like the south, it's harder for differing lifestyles, ideas, opinions, etc to be accepted (google: ku klux klan, dixiecrats, carpetbagger).

also, if you cycle back a couple hundred years and look at the crusades, you'll see similar patters between the western christian homogenized society and the middle eastern/muslim homogenized society.

fvck sake, am i honestly sitting here giving you a lesson in common knowledge? whatever, i'm going to bed...

read my edited post. goodnight.

Meh. You wanna play with the big boys ya gots ta pay the price. Considering who they're fvcking with, it didn;t seem over the top.
Of course, the ya hoos in here talkin' tough would be screamin' like little girls with 1/10 of that beating. One kick to the side and they'd be begging for their lives.
Idiots.

They should have teargassed their dumbasses or something... on the assumption that the kids were throwing rocks at soldiers... no sympathy from me... those rocks they throw can kill our guys when thrown at vehicles.

Not that I condone this kind of violence, and not that I have experienced this first hand, but you have to realize war changes a man's mind.

They know that these people want them DEAD, so if something irrational happens - like in the video - you kinda need to just shrug it off. It's no Vietnam, but an enemy is enemy.

Enemy! = friend.

that's why i said that i pray that this isn't what our soldiers do during times of increased stress... i know war brings out the worst in people. that still doesn't make it acceptable, especially when we're fighting an enemy whose only allegiance is to hate americans (and that's it). basically, the way it works is that we attack, they evade and vanish and then come back to bite us on our asses. they play the victim, the people buy it, and more terrorists are bred.

i guarantee that some of those kids who were beaten are WAAAAAY closer to joining al-qaeda only to blow up the sears tower in 7 years than they are at becoming reformed, good little iraqi model citizens.

Horseshiat, you can't "guarantee" anything... what a foolish statement... this isn't even that big of a deal... it's not like they shot into the crowd.... quit your whining about this virtually irrelevant event. It should be investigated, and that's the end of it.

excuse me? did you see st he strike on that kid? he could have easily broken his rib cage

You know you are saying thats horrible that they were beaten because they through rocks. Look in Northern Ireland, same thing happened. Peaceful march and people started throwing stone. This eventually escalated and then it turned into something that is more commonly known as "Bloody Sunday." Dang, lucky they only got beaten.

People throw stones at police during riots.

we do not shot them. we do not beat them up. we do not torture them. We go off on countries like China for doing it but when our own ally does it we make excuses. Some of the people in here are so filled with hate and a dislike for other cultures that they forget to think before they type

And if they caught me, I would expect to have my ass kicked.

This kind of reminds me of the anti-abortionists showing gory photos. The problem is that:

"A picture is NOT an argument," to quote a certain philosopher.

The video doesn't provide us with the full context. Were the Iraqis shooting at the British earlier? We don't know from the video. (In the abortion case, we just as easily show revolting photos of butchered animals and try to make the same argument. The photos don't tell us whether or not a conscious, conceptual-level personality was resident in the fetus or animal).
