I think it is when they are pregnant they get marks on their stomach from the stretching of the skin, but I am probably wrong.

lines on the stomach and thighs from either age or fluctuations in weight.. kind of like small sections of saggy skin.
Pretty unattractive. :Q

Don't you get them during growth spurts and stuff too? I have some on the upper side of my legs that I got during my growth spurt.

I know some people who have some on their chests when they started lifting weights.

Stretch marks can appear anywhere. It is when the connective tissue breaks down and you are left with a "depression" in the skin.

I am really drunk and depressed right now, so if I am off the wall nevermind.

Given your AnandTech name, could you not simply call yourself?
I would if I was still an active paramedic. I blew out my knee and lost my career.
I am in a very low period right now and am wondering what to do with my life. I tried to get on with the new "Bush" americas team but have not heard anything in over three months now. Shame since I am trained in Incident Command System and CA emergency management systems.

Not feeling well and my new doc wants me to take all kinds of meds, which I would rather not. Sleep would be nice soon...

911paramedic, I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm no doctor but here's some general "good feeling" advice: get some sunshine, try to exercise a bit, communicate with family members (we here at AT count but not much!), eat healthy and take a daily supplement. (No need to tell me I'm a lousy cheerleader. Known that for years).

I have them on my shoulders... I guess it was a combination of bulking up and growth spurts.

Ive got some stretch marks right above the armpits, some on my hips, and some on my knees. I started getting them like 4 years ago, when I gained weight and had a growth spurt, but I also started working out 2 years after that, and the marks are still there. from what Ive read and heard, stretch marks can be rid of using laser treatment only. No magic lotions or anything that can help it...unless anyone knows otherwise

I got two stretch marks across my abs too... sucks... fairly unsightly but they almost fit in between the bumps in my 'six pack'. Not quite though... yuck.

My wife did not get them during her pregnancy. Her OB/GYN told her to use cocoabutter (sp?) cream on her stomach during her pregnancy. Well, it worked because she has no stretch marks.
