What the heck?

So I am watching a movie on my television through my computer...

About 3/4 through, I get a "lost connection" message on my TV...

I got into the room where my PC is and the screen is black and there is this message:

SYSLINUX 3.86 2010-04-01 EBIOS

WTF?

Upon researching it is some kind of error when you are trying to install unbuntu?

I have NEVER tried to install that...

What on earth could have happened?

I tried everything and basically had to do a total reinstall of windows 7 to get pc going again...

ANY ideas?

I suspect you had a HDD problem that caused the system to reboot and upon doing so it didn't see the HDD and so it proceeded to boot from some bios built in bootloader that happens to depend on Syslinux.

Either that, or a ninja was rebooting your system off a USB thumbdrive and had to pull it out for a quick escape when he heard you coming.
