This happened to me once except it was pictures my friend and his wife took when I let them borrow my camera for a camping trip.

I was trying to recover a hard drive with Easy Recovery Professional and my memcard was in the slot reader at the time and suprisingly it showed up as one of the drives I could scan so I gave it a shot to see what all I deleted that it could dig up.

If you have ever let someone use your camera then give it a shot, who knows what you will find.

I assumed that the file was just marked as deleted from the FAT... without actually removing the data from the card.

But it doesn't fvcking matter anyway.

What program did you use? Maybe the writers of the program decided it would be funny to have the program "recover" a few images of their choosing . They look like the geeky programming type.

This is kind of what I was saying; how would you know if someone took your camera somewhere? You wouldn't. You would have no idea if your camera was gone for a few days. Honestly, do you carry your camera around with you everywhere?

That would make a lot more sense, since most professional companies zero-fill or use similar methods for drives that they're disposing of or are repackaging. They definitely do this for refurbished drives if old data is present, so why wouldn't a company do this for a memory card that they're pawning off as new? You'd have to be running a pretty shoddy company to let those kinds of mistakes go around

Believe me, I never lent the the camera to anyone. I've only had it since the summer, too.

But, I doubt the retailer would know anything about properly clearing the card for resale.

I don't think they would bother taking the time to send it back to Kingston, do you?
