What the heck is with humans picking on animals for fun?

yeah, the rope is placed around their "change purse, when the gate is opened, the rope is drawn tight.

Well look at rodeos and then look at the people that enjoy it, most of the people in them have lower IQ's than the animals they use. An animal won't screw it's brother or sister for fun, unlike rodeo goers.

I'm against all those 'animal' sports - bull fighting, rodeo, etc. Even horse racing can go bad when the horses fall, etc. Sure, athletes die occasionally, but it just seems more cruel to put unwilling animals in these types of situations.

Thank you... I feel this exact same way.

Whenever I hear of these types of abuse stories I wish I could do the exact same thing to the people who committed the abuse.
Barbecue a little kitten then we get to barbecue the person who did it.

Dump some dog out in the wilderness then we can dump the guilty party in the middle of siberia.

Throw some puppies in a sack and into a river we will do the exact same thing to them

I'll feel sorrier for the relatively small number of animals hurt in these sports when the enormous number of animals suffering from slaughthouse killing methods is reduced. Yes, I still eat meat. But do you have any idea how they kill those animals, and how incredibly painful it would be?

Who cares? Why is it ok to let your cat beat a mouse do death but this is so wrong?

Edit: this is a *question*! I seriously want to know why people differentiate the two. I am not a rodeo cowboy and frankly don't have any affection for animal sports, or beating animals, or what have you.

Animal against Animal

Human against Animal

How hard is that to understand???

I agree, but read my last post for more of how I feel on that...

I understand, but I think there's a difference between natural selection and abuse as entertainment. If cats didn't teach their young how to hunt with half dead prey, the species would not survive(they do this because cats have terrible eyesight, and kittens can't handle live prey). That doesn't mean I wouldn't feel bad for the mouse, but that is the way of nature. And nature can be a real bitch sometimes.

For those of you talking about rodeos, how many of you have ever *been* to a rodeo? Been around the animals used in a rodeo? Talked to a vet about the pain those animals experience in a rodeo? I think you'd be surprised at how humane they actually are, compared to this torture fest you seem to be picturing.

So, it feels good to have a rope put around your neck and be yanked to the ground?

Bull-Riding isn't the only activity in Rodeos.

I'd bet I could turn at least 5 meat eaters from a group of 10 into vegetarians in under 5 minutes by taking them into a slaughterhouse. I eat meat too, but I at least try to keep in mind where it came from when I buy.

The absolute worst is those who train pit-bulls for dogfighting.

They have that going on in a bad part of town - its absolutely atrocious what they do to train those dogs.

Ever been to a rodeo in Mexico?? Among the many human/animal stunts is an event called "horse tripping". Yep..they think it's great sport to trip horses with ropes!!!

You know if you people talk like this where people can HEAR you, you ain't gonna' have to worry about animal abuse. Somebody will introduce you to people abuse. There are millions of rodeo fans. 'Course it's easy to talk like this with a keyboard!

By the way, before you feel to sorry for the poor animals do some research on Bodacious, "The Master of Disaster" here:

You PETA boys and girls can get some nerd revenge!

There are millions of NASCAR fans too. That doesn't make them any less brain-dead.

I glanced at the title and thought it said "What the heck is with humans pickling animals for fun"
