clamato with beer is very popular in mexico.

prepared correctly ( clamato , salt , lemon juice, soy sauce , english sauce , lemon pepper and a few drops of tabasco sauce ) is one of the most awesome things you can drink.

if you havent tried it dont diss it.

now, those pre-made mixes like the one in the OP generally dont taste that good.

PS. just never mix it with something nice like a guiness or any dark beers.

That sounds more like a chicken marinade than something you should drink.

All the chicks around here in LA love it. I think it's disgusting but I buy it when I'm going to a chicks place to get her boozed up. I guess this isn't a nationwide thing and more a regional thing with lots of Messicans around so I guess many of you haven't even heard of it.

Do you guys not drink "red beers" where you are from? Clamato juice + any beer.

Have drank them for a while. I like them in the mornings. That being said, the pre-canned one pictured above is pretty shitty compared to a "homemade" mix. I didn't mind it much though (drank about half of a 22 and got bored).

I've seen my grandpa put tomato juice in his beer before. He will also put salt in it from time to time. I thought he was getting old and doing crazy old people stuff and didn't think twice about it. Apparently other people do this as well. Regardless, it looks disgusting and I refuse to try it.

Ya my favourite hangover cure is a spicy ceasar...it seems to do the trick!

Like my mother always said; if you have to dump tomato and clam juice into anything to make it drinkable, you need to find yourself a new drink.

your mother always said that?

They call it Red Beer. Univerity of Nebraska fans love it because it's beer and it's red.

I think it's gross.

This is slightly different as Clamato has a different taste to it and it has some salt and 99% of the time lime is involved as well. It's nasty.

Meh...Red Beer's been around for a L-O-N-G time...

Many people like beer mixed with "mater juice," and lots of bars serve it upon request.

I never cared for the taste, but I HAVE drank several over the years.

These "pre-mixed" versions however...I suspect are gonna suck.

Folks from the midwest know them as Polish beers. However, not even tomato juice could save a "Bud."
