What the heck is going on?

Ok, I have win xp and I just tried loading up Max Payne. When I start a new game, and while the video is playing, right when it gets to one part of the video, my computer just restarts. It sounds like my harddrive shuts off or something because I here the clicking noise my HD makes when it shuts off. I have a WD hd, expox 8k7a w/ 1.33 athlon. In win98 it never did this to me, but now in winxp it is. I tried it two times already. I need help!!

Did you apply the patch that came out a couple of days after the game, it fixes a problem like this.
