What the heck is a blinking yellow left turn arrow?

I just saw one of these today. I have been driving for 15 years and never encountered such a thing.

blinking red = stop before proceeding?

I have seen blinking red "circle" but not arrow. A blinking red circle is the same as a stop sign (unless I am missing something).

No one does that. We also follow a strict "if he went" policy at left turn lights. If the guy in front of you goes, you go. I have seen the line go all the way through the other side's green arrow 🙂

the confusion is why they started blinking yellows. It makes more sense to me.

In law, it is probably no different. The blinking yellow just clues you in that someone else has a green so things aren't as controlled as they might seem to be with a green arrow.

Wow that is indeed weird.

I was on a bus (good thing as I would of been confused) and I actually saw a red AND green at the same time. WTF? Aparantly it means go, because the bus never stopped.

Like, it was red AND green on the same panel, not like, red for one lane and green for the other, it was the same light panel, both the top and bottom were lit.

I've been through that intersection at least a thousand times...though I don't think I have been that way in the past year or so. It was at 28th and Buchanan.

Massachusetts used to use Red and Yellow after someone used the crosswalk button. Don't remember seeing it recently; according to wikipedia it violates some Federal Highway Administration code.

Back on topic: wikipedia on flashing yellow arrow. I have not seen one either.
