What the heck happened with the Register?

Was the Intel fiasco not even a hack? Why was Mike Magee fired? I've heard bits and pieces but so far the entire thing doesn't make any sense. Anyone care to explain?

Its not a hack. Compaq bought the Register like Intel did (not forever, just to advertise their name). I lost a great deal of respect for the Register when that happened. Now I lost all respect for them.

Damn. So is this what caused Mike Magee to leave? Did he leave or was he fired? He's got a new site up by the way... "The Inquirer".

Start here, this guy's pretty pissed off about it, too.

Here's Mike's new(s) site. Check it out!

Just once is enough, thank you.

<embarrassed>

Well, you see...

I kept getting the "server's bogged down, try again later" so I figured it didn't happen...and I wanted to get it posted so I could leave...so I kept trying!

stupid brain...I must rate the "n" word! So sorry.

Oh well...the Register's bookmark is now replaced with the Inquirer. I only read the Register for Magee's articles anyways.

The Inquirer is MUCH better than the Reg, which I stopped reading because of its high levels of suckiness :)

I agree MartyTheManiak, the inquirer offers better commentary w/ their news, just my opinion :)

I restate the age-old question:

How in the HELL did this thread get back up here?

I mean, aren't they archived? I've never seen an explanation for this.

this is what i dont get; if you look in messages in archived, it doesnt let you "post"

so how did this thread get bumped if you're not allowed to post in it?
