What the heck? Attack Site?

Just tried to visit Anandtech and Google Chrome went to it's standard "Attack Site" layout and said this:

"The website at forums.anandtech.com contains elements from the site googleanalyticz.com, which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a site that contains malware can infect your computer."

Anyone else see this? I just closed the tab and tried again and it was okay, just curious if there is a possibly malicious advertisement running or if there was a compromise.

The higher ups are aware of the issue, and working to rectify it as quickly as possible. I apologize for the issues that you are seeing.

Hey guys, we've seen it too and we're trying to track down which ad is causing it. If you do get the above error and are willing/able to could you email me the source to the page? It looks like the malware may be served by a 3rd party's ad server that we have no control over, so as soon as we know exactly which ad it is, we can kill it. I'm working on getting some suspect ads pulled right now.

You can email the page source to me directly at anand@anandtech.com.

Take care,
Anand

Using ie8 I just had a warning the website wants to run some Adobe 3d utility(?).
I said no, opened and closed ATOT and didn't get the message again.

humm, I was just browsing ATOT an hours ago and a stupid fake antivirus got on my computer. this is the first time in over a decade i've gotten anything

Glad it's not just me, but it is somewhat concerning that one of my favorite sites is attempting to attack me. :/

Im having lots of problems tonight, anand was down, google keeps going down, EVE is out, woot 1/2 loads.

I just got the same message using IE8. I clicked on the forums tab from the main anandtech.com page, and the "attack site" window.

Reloaded the forums and all is fine....

Dude holy crap. Same here. I used Chrome. I totally regret switching from FF now. This was on my work computer. Something called "Antivirus Soft?" It was 5pm and I was like holy crap let's not have me call the IT guy. After all I was the IT guy once for an hour on a Friday evening when he went home, and I had to help some newbs who were screaming "my desktop disappeared!"

So I calmly restarted in safe mode, ran Malware Bytes which our IT guy made us install months ago. I updated it and it caught some crap. Now I'm back up and running. I like SuperAntiSpyware more. Will do a full scan now as I leave work. I'm confident most of it's already gone as I didn't get anything on this restart.

This could very well be the first signs of:

1) Sentient AI
2) Upgrading Hardware causes "Pain" to that AI

No way, Sentient AI would never come to ATOT first.

Also, damn it, this just happened again.

Is this..

1) Shitty VB vulnerabilities being exploited?
2) Shitty advertisers trying to fuck with us through malware?

i loaded up the forums when i got home from work, noticed a 'this site wants to install a plugin' thing at the top of the browser, and then my PC got hijacked by fake AV software before i even had time to react (no, i did not install anything).

nice, AT, nice. perhaps you should just give up on ads since you fail so fucking miserably at them.
