this is a serious question :) what the heck are they called and where can i purchase one? Of course we all know what they are for but what are they called?
apparently while vacuuming in the office someone vacuumed up the little soft nubby thing from one of our laptops, so it will never been seen again! we need a replacement! and i need your help finding out what it is called!

not sure what they're called off the top of my head, but if its a thinkpad, ibm sells replacments off their website. any decent computer shop in your area should be able to help you out too.

In all seriousness, they are called a TrackPoint cap. IBM has them on their laptops, keyboards, and mice - they have TrackPoint, I, II, and III. You can buy replacements from their supplier -
