What the fvck is wrong with my computer science teacher!!!??

What does he think he's doing, giving me a 73 average for this term!?!?!? He graded my papers, both which were written with facts, supporting statements and everything you want in a paper, perfect length that he asked for, and he give me an 88 on both papers (claiming they were questionable, and he thought i plageurized them)!! I ask him why, and he goes, oh...don't take it personally, it was awesome, i just don't think anybody is perfect, and even though i didn't know anything about the drive, and i know about it now, i still think it's an 88. Also the report is questionable....ok, fine whatever

for notebook grades, he told the "advanced" group, we don't need notebooks, and he won't check them...well guess what, i have two fat ZERO's on there for NOTEBOOK!!! :|:|

next thing, we had 2 "labs" as he called it; installing windows 98 + office on a computer....well congratufsckinlations, i failed that, i got a 60 on installing windows 98 on the computer, and a 90 for installing office. WHAT THE HELL?!?!? :|

How the hell to you manage to get a 60 installing 98??? You go into fdisk, everyone's favorite little utility, repartition, reformat, and install! wow, such a difficult task to do, yet I managed to get an F on it. Amazing, office is also difficult, you plug in the god damn serial number and press next until the thing installs itself. THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE! It's not like I had to rewrite the code for office!

He is nothing but a jealous sore loser, who keeps asking for me to explain things to him and teach him things, yet tries to fail me for it. He clearly knows nothing, as he is teaching the class how FAT32 is better. His argument was that using FAT32 you can dual boot, but with NTFS you can't

FAT32 my ass, i dual boot with xp + xp media center, and works perfectly on ntfs

Tomorrow, I shall have a nice long chat with him. Next time he asks me for help with something he doesn't understand how to do, he's getting the finger <^>:|<^>

</rant>

Update: So today during computer class, the advanced group started talking among ourselves, and we found out that all of us got 73's

As he's passing us, we calmly ask him why we all got such a low grade. He says "I told everyone if you fool around and don't do what you're told, you won't do well." I ask why we got a 60 on the lab, and 2 zero's for notebook check. He says that he did notebook checks, and we didn't have them (which never happened). Then he says that we didn't do anything for the "lab", which was installing windows. We told him that we installed everything, but since we have a limited class time, and we started late (since he was explaining something to us), we were unable to finish in one class period; so we finished it the next class. Now, although he was not physically in the room when we were installing, he claims we were fooling around and not doing anything. I told him, how can he make such assumptions, when we were the only 3 people in the room, and we sat around the computer, and chatted while the install was going on. I'm sorry, but It's not my fault that installing 98 on a pentium 2 computer takes an hour...i didn't make it. So he starts saying how we're just upset because we don't like our grades. I tell him that there's a difference between not liking a grade, and not deserving it. He starts making up all this crap, saying how we took 3 days, then he says we took 4 days, and he constantly changes his story.

Then he tells us he grades us on a daily basis. Ok, fine....(the way our class works, is he sits down with the noobs, and teaches them crap like how to use word, and go into my computer and stuff, while we sit around doing nothing, until he assigns us something...which is usually some random report we do at home). So basically, we just sit around and download music all period. We have constantly asked him for work, or for him to give the noobs a break, and teach us something like code (which he claims he knows. He just retaliates yelling "STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!". I ask him, "I'm not making any excuses, i've ASKED you for work, and you don't give me any, what am i supposed to do? How about I just do this all class (i turn on the screen saver, and fold my hands...staring at the screen". He says again, stop making excuses! I ask him to tell me what excuse I made, so he says it's not important...So finally he says he'll get rid of the notebook grades (even though it's our fault), and that's it. If he's so sure he's right, then wtf is he getting rid of those zeros? So I ask him "what about the lab?" He says that he gave us a 60 just because he felt like it....then he adds, "You guys deserved a zero, but i just gave you a 60"...Is it just me, or is there something wrong with that? I start another sentence with "Well, in class....", and he rudely cuts me off, yelling at the top of his lungs "I KNOW! JUST STOP TALKING! YOU'RE WRONG! YOU DON'T DO WORK!!!!"...I start asking, "What do you know, you didn't even hear what I had to s....."JUST STOP TALKING AND MAKING EXCUSES! YOU SHOULD GET A ZERO!" So I stop talking, and go back to ATOT....and here he starts up the argument again. I just listen to what he has to say, and upon replying, he says "You're wrong, stop making excuses...Anything you say, i have a comeback for it, so just drop it"

Then he says, "well next lab you'll be able to bump your grade up, you guys will get a 90". I immediately turn towards him, and ask, what do you mean we'll get a 90?? You have the labs pregraded before we do them?? He said, "If you show up, do everything you're told, do everything correctly, and put forth all the effort, you can get a 90"....I'm sorry, but to me that sounds like a 100; doing everything you're told? Putting forth all the effort? Doing it all correctly? What I say to him: "How come that isn't a 100? If we put forth all the effort, and do everything correctly? What do we do to get a 100? Recode windows?" His reply: "Yeah, you've REALLY got to go above and beyond to get a 100"...since when?, from what i understand, 100 means 100%, which means you understand the material, and are able to perform it correctly. His response to this: "Stop making excuses!"

Anyways, the four of us go up to our guidence councelor after class, and start telling her what happened. Guess who comes in? That's right, the CS Teacher. The guidence councelor figures it's a good idea to have him in there too, so he sits down and we begin talking about what happened. As soon as we try to say something, he IMMEDIATELY interrupts us, and starts saying his own thing; half of which is either completely wrong, or twisted to make him look good, and us bad. We try to say something, but he just comes back with "Stop crying you babies!". Despite the four of us, with the same story, against him with a completely different story, the conversation goes nowhere. The guidence councelor said that she'll talk to him and the school director, and that we can go for now. Tomorrow, I will try to talk to the director before the teacher gets a chance, since i know he's going to try to head us off and twist the story...just like he wanted to do today with the guidence councelor.

During lunch, he came in today, with updated grades.....mine was bumped from a 73 to an 88...still not happy about it, since the lab is still a 60. I asked him "If you're so sure that we deserved what we got or even lower, than why did you just update our scores??"

This totally gives away that he knows he's wrong and is trying to butter us up....not going to work.

lol, sorry to LOL but that is just so really lame on his part.

I had a teacher like that once too, it was really messed up, I never understood his "pull numbers out of my ass theory" either!!!!!

I think a proper passing grade would've been obtained by using the Win98 CD to murder the prof.

What school is this, so we can make sure that no other AT'er has to waste $30k going there.

I find your math confusing... how does 60 and 90 equal two failures???

And if you're really mad, just go talk to your guidance counsellor... He can act as an intermediary...

Although, this does bring to mind the kid who was taking CCNA with me... he was all "leet" and a "haxor" cuz he knew about Snort...

he dropped out after the first Module.. :p

Did he provide instructions for installing Windows 98? Did you follow them to the letter?

My experience with these "general computing"-type classes is that you're better off not challenging the professor and just going along with what he says.

For the 60 in installing win98, you didn't make the argument for installing W2k instead. ;)

Nah, that only gets you a 90. To get a 100, you need to attach the disk to a dremil, get it to speed, and then release it in the direction of the prof. If it impales him, instal 100, if it just wounds him, 95.

no instructions, just said "do it"

he's too lazy to make any instructions

just stands over you like a dumbass....honestly, it looks like he's watching you, trying to learn from what you're doing.

Maybe if you weren't posting on ATOT during class you'd actually be able to do simple tasks (like installing win98) properly. Douche.

Oh, Neonerd is a HS kid. Hah, damn. My HS CS prof learned along with us (she has a CS masters from way back when CS was new, but had never been able to find a job teaching it, so she'd been waiting it out as an algebra/calc teacher)

But yeah, HS is full of ignorant pricks who will gladly fail you for showing them up. Just like the real world, except you don't know enough to not take it personally yet.

I thought it was an unwritten rule that computer classes in high school and below are tought by total morons, full of incorrect information, and in general a complete waste of time. When I was in HS, the only people who took comp classes were morons or people hoping to coast, which inevitably turns into stories like yours.

Edit: Just wanted to note that I learned more about programming and computers in math class than anyone did in the comp classes.

Why would they let someone who is failing their Computer Science class put up a website for them?

J/K:laugh: I would've been out of there the first day. I hated teachers like that. There was this nature studies class that I was really looking forward to because I had a full schedule for the first three years of highschool, and I finally got to take it my senior year. The teacher that taught it taught some other classes I had and he was awesome. When I finally got to take the class he retired of something and the douche that replaced him trasnformed the class into "Taxidermy 101". Yeah, real natural, ass  I made it through one period and got out. Sorry for the rant, but I never really got over that and had to tell someone. It was really cathartic.

Sounds like you have a bit of an attitude with him, and you try and upstage him in class by flaunting your computer knowledge.

This is probably the reason that he marks you down on highly subjective assignments like "installing Windows."
