What the freak, is this the new standard for the backspace key?

This is what I am using now (without the wrist rest), though the backlights are dying.

It seems to have the layout you all prefer and, when functioning properly, is good for night gaming (which is why it was originally purchased).

My back lights seem to be slowly dying out as well. :( However they were never really bright enough to be all that usefull unless a)really dark in the room b) you looked at the keyboard from a near 90 degree angle. Been a great keyboard though, and the volume buttons are quite useful. I've heard the Eclipse 2 improves on the back lighting issue.

Mine is also really dirty, but I haven't got the properly sized allen wrench to take off those 4 bolts anymore.

Oversized enter keys are annoying, but undersized shift keys are insufferable. Don't like a lot of laptops for that reason.

I picked up one of those in a thrift store, new condition, for a few bucks. Gave it to a friend because it's BY FAR the mushy-est keyboard I've ever used.

My Dell keyboard on my docking station at the office has the giant L shaped return key.

I just remembered that the Kaypro had a L-shaped return key as well but the configuration was quite different from modern keyboards. The position of the arrow keys was problematic for gaming. I did so much data entry using the numeric keypad on the Kaypro that I never adjusted to the placement of the minus key on modern keyboards. To me, the minus key should be next to the 9 key, not up one row.

I refuse to use any keyboard with the backwards "L" shaped enter key and the tiny backspace key.

i have an eclipse also. good keyboard. i have grown very used to dell and hp laptop keyboards, as they are nearly all i use now. I am glad they are nearly the same, if not i would make a lot of mistakes when going from work to home.

What's the point of moving the backslash around like that. Just makes it harder to type. Are you that fat fingered that you need an extra large enter key?

Surely for layout its just a matter of what you are used to?
I make errors if its anything other than the standard UK keyboard
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KB_United_Kingdom.svg

Can't cope with the annoying single row enter key you lot seem to like, I keep hitting oblique instead. And US keyboards have several symbols in different places from what I'm used to.

A Brit friend who's lived in the US for a very long time bought a laptop in UK then moaned about it having a 'non standard keyboard'. Er, no, that's the UK standard!

Use a Saitek ecllipse II. Quite happy with it.

I know the mechanical switch ones are more robust, but I don't like that clacky-clack noise myself.
