What the freak, is this the new standard for the backspace key?

I refuse to buy any keyboards or laptops that have the above key arrangement. My backspace needs to be double sized and my enter take only a single row.

at home, i have the logitech mx3000. the arrangement is alright for the most part.

the one thing that bugs me is the arrangement of the home/end/page keys.
at home i don't use linux. at work, i'm always connected to several putty sessions. without these keys, it's impossible to work.

we need to return to the days when keyboard looked like keyboards!

This is what I am using now (without the wrist rest), though the backlights are dying.

It seems to have the layout you all prefer and, when functioning properly, is good for night gaming (which is why it was originally purchased).

Not sure what the OP is talking about. Quick look at both the Microsoft and Logitech sites show the backspace key is double sized and the enter key is single row on all of their standard sized keyboards.

I easily get used to any keyboard layout after a couple of weeks of use. I don'y buy a keyboard solely on layout because it's really not as big a deal as people make out.

Yikes, I can't remember the last time I actually looked at the keyboard to type something. Maybe the F-row

These. That placement pictured in the OP looks ridiculous.

Standards are nice for those of us who end up going to many different keyboards during the day. Different keyboards always eff up my typing when I have to use them

msft natural keyboard elite ftw.

I've had this keyboard for years and years, and love it, EXCEPT that the arrow keys are horrible arranged for gaming, or well, doing anything. They're way too close together, and the down key should be between left and right.

This is the only acceptable layout for a US Keyboard.

Ah yes, the ol' clacky clack. My parents always knew how late I was on the computer because they could hear me typing in the next room. Typing on it for an hour was roughly equivalent to using one of these:

My keyboard has to have

a big backspace key,
backwards-L shaped enter key, and
/ SHIFT \

or I can't use it correctly.
