What temps should I be aiming for?

what are some general ranges of temps that are acceptable for my pc? what do i not want to see?

I think 30C for case temp and less than 50C for CPU is a good target. If you have less than this you are good.

Less than 50c? Im sure you are not talking about thoroughbreds, lol. The only time when I see my thoroughbred drop below 50c is when my window is open during a cool night (30-40 degrees) when the pc is in complete idel. When it gets warmer however during the summer, it runs around 58c-65c full load. I imagine a HSF blowing hot air isnt going to get it down below the 50c mark.

can i thermal tape a heat sensor to the side of the cpu heatsink and get an accurate temp measure?

and where on a GPU or HD can i tape a sensor down on?

i'd say 1C is a good temperature, but since that's not goig to happen, i know that i'm quite happy at 43C under full load... AS3 + Tt Volcano 9

for the case temp it should be room temperature...and for cpu it should be below 60C(full load). or whatever is stable is decent enough.
