Hi all! I plan on getting "back to school" family plan with 2 lanes. Which of the phones they have for free or for cheap should I use?

It needs to be LOUD, since I am partly hard-hearing. It needs to have AIM chat. And probably ability to run some gadget programs/scripts/etc?
Thanks :)
I am a 18yr old guy, if that helps.

Thanks!

The Sidekick3 has AIM and unlimted SMS messages included in the data plan.

If you need something more computer like, go with the MDA but be warned if your big on text messaging, unlimited will cost you another $14.95 per month in addition to your data and voice plans.

one of my friends just received a t509. so far he's mixed about it, leaning to not liking it (it's also a vga camera if that interests you at all). he liked his t809 though (it was stolen).

which type of phone interests you? slider, candybar, flip? definitely go to a tmobile store and check out the cameras in person.

sidekick 3 for sure. if not that, then a t809. 1.3 megapixel camera, pretty nice aim capabilities. yet, i used to have one and i remember it being a little hard to hear sometimes. i fell down a hill and cracked the screen. i just rebought it though, on ebay.

Where can I find the deals, intogamer? I only found RAZRs on tmobile website being 50 bucks AR.
I don't care for the camera in the phone, it can be any junk or even no camera.
t809 is $299 on tmobile site with my plan! Is there a way to get it cheaper? And how?
Sidekick3, I'll lay it off...I am not getting a data plan :)
As for the type of the phone, I have no idea, I am a total newbie here. I guess I'll place it in my jeans pocket, meaning I don't want buttons to randomly press on candybar. I probably will have cell in my jeans pocket while driving bike to/from school.

Thanks :)

I have the razr with cingular (they both use the exact same phone) and honestly, as a phone, it's great. Motorola did good when they designed the hardware. The software, however, leaves something to be desired. I'm still deciding between my razr and my treo. Treos menus are great and I love being able to have a REAL address book but it's very bulky. The razr is an excellent phone: great voice, very small and light and excellent reception. But for advanced things like having physical addresses and not just phone numbers, it's not very good. Motorola really needs to get better software designers (maybe they should hire nokia LOL).

I second the T809 since that is the phone I use. The MP3 playback with micro SD card is cool and the screen is awesome. I got mine a couple of months ago for $99 after $50 rebate
