Hey guys, I have a question.
I currenlty have a Celeron 1.3Ghz (Socket 370 P3 Tualatin based, 256kb L2 cache, 100mhz FSB) + a mATX motherboard (supports 66/100/133 FSB and onboard graphics, has one dead IDE slot, only has 2 DIMM slots) for my Emulation/arcade/MAME rig.
I'll be getting (got as a package from a seller when I bought some PC3200 from him, should get here by monday) an Athlon (T-bird) 1.4Ghz, which I *think* is 266mhzFSB (It may be the 200mhz one, though) and an ASUS A7A266 motherboard. Link to motherboard.
I'll be using PC133 SDRAM (I have 3x128MB, and 1x256MB) and a Radeon 7200 PCI for the system. The power supply will be a 235w Enlight model, the HD will be a Quantum fireball 10GB, and the Optical drive will be a Creative 6x DVD-ROM (these are the parts I have laying around).
Which one do you guys think would be better? I think the Athlon setup would definitely be better, especially since it can use more RAM. But will it be *that* much better for MAME/Emulated games?
I'll be keeping one mobo/CPU combo and selling/trading the other (probably for a mid-rage graphics card for my main system).
If you guys say the performance difference won't be too much, I'll probably sell the Athlon combo (will add 2x128MB PC133) because it'll probably sell/trade faster. If the performance difference is significant, I'll probably selling the Celeron combo (will ad 128MB PC133 and an Ultra66 controller card).
Sorry for the confusing post, but I really want some opinions on this.
