What surface do you use for optical mouse?

<< I use the regular fake wooden desk surface, but I notice everywhere I leave the mouse for any extended period of time gets a little dot 'burnt' into the finish. I guess the light from the LED reacts somehow with the surface finish. It looks pretty weird now, there's like 1000 little whitish spots on my keyboard/tray tray now. Anyone else notice this? >>

I have the exact same effect, but i thought it was just the flat surface of the mouse rubbing the finish away.

I have a cheapo pressed wood desk with keyboard tray made of the same crap. I just use that for the mouse, its worn in the area my mouse travels pertty well, but I dont have any problems using it...
