Play nice now. You never know who you maybe talking to for a job one day. 😉 But, yes. Network technicians do more entry level, and depending on your organization, probably more hands on stuff.
We don't really have network technicians where I work. At least not in the true sense of the word. So the budding netengs (aka ME!) get to do a lot of the hands on stuff.
You really think that field is in a bit of recession? I think there's still a very strong demand for good qualified people in networking. Some of the people I talk with these days who call themselves network consulants...they couldn't tell me what TCP/IP is...and I wish I were kidding about that. So, if that weeds out those bozos then I'm all for it.
