Depends on what timeframe you're looking at. In the short term you're 100% correct. Longer term, no. Pick a smaller sized quality company and you can ride its stock profitably for years, see a company like Paychex (PAYX) for an example of this.

And OP, how long of a period is your assignment going to cover? That will help in recommendations.
