I've heard that the OCZ vetex 2 is supposed to be faster in both read and writes then the Intel SSD, is this true and are they out yet? Or is Intel still the fastest for both read and writes..

well intel's slc drive i think is the fastest for both but on the mlc side of things any good indilux controler based drive will have about double the write speeds and marginally slower read speeds. oh and did i mention they cost less per gig as well.

as far as i know, the intel drives have significantly better random reads than the indilux drives

The seagate SLC drive, expected soon, should have noticably better than the Intel SLC drives. Sadly, if you have to ask the price, you won't be able to afford it.

The same controller as Seagate will be used in the OCZ Vertex 2, with cheaper MLC flash - but as both drives are targetted at enterprise level systems, the OCZ is likely to be cripplingly expensive too.

I heard Kingston is supposed to be coming out soon with an 40GB SSD for $80 after MIR. Any news on this?

They were $89.99 with no rebate a few weeks ago at Buy.com - 4% Bing cash back = approx. $86.40. They were $95.83 this week.
