i need some speakers to play music and have it sound damn nice. i will have an audigy plat w/ all the goodies. what would sound nice?

How would one of those systems you mentioned compare to a good receiver + decent 100w home theater speakers? Would it be around the same? This would be a 200-300 hoem theater speaker set btw...

🙂In June issue of Maximum PC mag there is an review of the Altec Lansing 251's (5.1 speakers) that they gave a 9 (kiss ass) verdict on and they only retail for $100 bucks!:Q

Any chance they rated the Z560's too for comparison? Did they say what the strengths/weaknesses of the 251's are?

A good home HI-FI AV system will sound better then any PC sound system ,so for best possible sound that`s the way to go.

🙂Maximum PC gave the Logitec Z-560's a perfect 10(kiss ass) score😀 no weakness's noted also the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1(if you don't need surround) also got a perfect 10 and they retail for $170😉

🙂I went back and read the review.....Maximum PC quote "The 251's are more than loud enough to permantly damage your hearing and they do a reasonably good job reproducing sound at high volumes. As you might expect from a budget speaker system, the 251's offer more-than-acceptable distortion when cranked up.But at normal listening volumes they sound very clear, altough mids are a little muddied and high-range sounds aren't as crystalline and distinct as they could be.While these would be fatal flaws in a $400. rig, they're excusable at $100."😉

logitec z560, Altec Lansing 641's, Boston Acoustics 4800s are all great

logitech are geared toward gaming (boomy bass)

641's and 4800s produce clearer sound

and there is the klipsch 4.1s

if you want a more accurate musical sound definitely go with the 641's or ba4800s because they will own both the logitech z560 and promedia 4.1 in this department

if you listen to more music, i would go for the boston acoustics ba4800, and if u play more games then for the logitech z560's. both are great speakers systems, they are just better at different things.

ah now that you guys put it that way, i think i changed my mind. what i was looking for was the cleanest and most clear sound quality.

if you guys are sure that the z560s fall a little behind, ill take your word for it.
