I just go a Thunderbird 800 on A7V. I heard that SB Live have problems on A7V MB. So, what sound cards do you guys have on your A7V?

A lot of people with A7Vs also have the SB live. you may have some initial issues with IRQs and drivers, but after you fix that (which isn't too difficult), it runs fine. Just rememeber when you set up that you should be looking for IRQ conflicts and driver issues causing instabilities. i don't know if the drivers shipping with the SBLive have been updated yet, but if they are, then you may not have any issues at all.

Most people have problems with SBLIVE because of IRq'S conflict. I also own an SBLIVE and never have problems. Just install the cards in third or fourth PCI slot and assign IRQ5 to it and there won't be a problems.

I _had_ an SBLive MP3+ in my machine at first. After spending weeks of try to fix lots of random freezes/lockups, and sound crackling/popping, I finally bought a Yamaha 744 card and switched to that. Now, no more problems. ;-) Yes, I tried all the suggestions on the forums (switching slots, reserving IRQs, playing with PCI latency, etc.) but no fix. I heard that some people have had problems with older SBLive cards on the A7V (I got mine in Dec. 1999). Most people without problems seem to have purchased their SBLive recently (within the last few months), so I don't know...

If you really want EAX 2.0, etc. then maybe try a SBLive. If you just want basic sound output (listening to MP3s, playing games, etc.) then maybe look for a different cheap card (i.e., Yamaha). No problems with GeForce cards, either...

Just my opinion...

No problems with SB Live, SQ2500, or Guillemot Fortismo on my A7V. Currently using the SB Live X-Gamer. Nor have I had any problems with 4X AGP in either 98SE or W2K-Pro using a Gladiac GTS.

I would avoid the SBlive - still not fixed yet. Some people are working ok but others are still having problems (including me).
