Will it make that much of a difference that this'll be in an InWin Q500 full-tower with all doors on, and 3 other 80mm fans in the case?

Dundain:

I have that case with three fans and had the 7000 rpm Delta fan on top of my Vantec HS. Even with the doors closed, I could hear it while in another room. It's an annoying whine that will give you a headache after a few hours. It does a great job of cooling, but it's not worth losing your hearing!;)

The Delta sounds like one of those small handheld vacuum's or a hairdryer. :( Some people can tolerate it, some can't. ;)

I'd say it sounds like an airplane starting a few meters next to you...well, maybe not, but for me even the 36 dBA Y.S.Tech fan (FOP-32 instead of 38) is too loud. I once heard a Delta as well, it was horrible. I can't even imagine owning a PC with a Delta fan inside...

I'm with Hanky, the ystech he mentions is at the limit for many, just over for a similar number. The Delta fan is for deaf people who live alone in the country, and don't have any dogs.

If you are upgrading the HSF in one of your profiled K6 rigs, be sure that a pep66 will actually fit. Lots of people have problems with that, pep66's were designed for Intel processors on slotkets. Some outfits offer them with a low profile fan, these are an easier fit.

An Alpha pal6035 kit with standard sunon fan from 2cooltek would likely serve your purposes just as well. Their big blue Vantec is also an excellent choice, at a considerably lower price.

My Alpha 6035 with a Black label Delta last only 4 days I could not get use to that whinning sound. I keep the HS but now I have a Sanyo Denki and next week I will try a YS fan, for more CFM.

I pluged it into a header on my mobo, took a listen, unplugged it, and sold it to my friend...:)

All humor aside, it sounds like a small foldable travel hairdrier or the hairdriers that you find in some hotels that are really just flexible hoses attached to a box on the wall.

Very annoying, and not helpful unless you also have good case ventilation. And by that I do not mean just a bunch of fans. The Delta is great for forcing cool air right to the bottom of a heatsink. If your case is full of hot air, it will do little good.
