What sorta apt should i look at?

Say my income is around $1.5K a month (already taking out payments for other necessities i.e. car, insurance, food, gas for car and fun) What sorta price should i look at per month for apt living? I was thinking in the ~$400 area which would mean about $500/month including utilities for a 1 person apt right? I mean i will just have electricity and phone to pay, no fast internet or cable or gas (at least no apts here charge for gas that ive looked at so far). Am i setting sights to low? Or good to live cheap and build up the ol savings account?

$400-$500 sounds about right. Don't forget to see if you are responsible for trash and water bills.

If you will be happy in a $400 apt, then that is being smart, not setting sights too low.
You should definitely be able to afford more if you really want to. Just depends on what your priorities are. If you go too expensive, you will live in a nice place but won't have any money to do the things you want.
