I've been looking around trying to find some good material to make ducts AND have them look good. I know I can mcguever it but i dont want that look.

Ideally i want some clear material (plastic maybe), bendable, and what the heck if i could taper it easily that would be great too(probably wont happen).

But ya checked Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace, um..some craft stores, fred meyer, cant seem to find ANYTHING.

Anyone have any luck with certain materials and where did you get them?

thanks!

I'd imagine you want at least 3 inches in diameter, considering that's the size of the 80mm fan.

the closest thing I've found to that is here

but I didn't want to pay that much for it.

good luck in your search.

You can get 3" aluminum or plastic drier vent ducts at Home Depot...fairly cheap. These bend easily and are well suited for computer use.

How about clothes dryer vent hose, any hardware store should have that. or try a marine store (west marine, U.S. Boat, etc) they probably have bilge vent stuff, they also have hose like cheapgoose linked, I can't remember if they had 3" diameter though. Just remember whenever the word "marine" gets slapped on anything the price doubles.

Are you looking for some type of hose, or are you looking to make a case intake?

Recently I saw a post where someone had a GREAT idea to use bass ducts for car audio cabinets as a case intake.

Habitrail tubes. You know, the little tubes for gerbil cages.

They're clear, can have a bend in them, and are good enough for gerbils. Granted, they're a little small in diameter, but I just wanna see someone do it.

brucehao, unfortunately I don't have a link.

I think you could find these things at places that sell parts for car audio. They are flared tubes made of spun aluminum, and they'd be GREAT as intakes! Especially with a madel airplane propellor boss mounted on the center of the fan for a "turbine" look!
