I have two PCs running W98 (not the second edition). I think that network software comes with most routers? (linksys, belkin).

1) Do I have to upgrade to at least W98 (SE)?
2) Do I use a third party proxy software instead?
3) Do I use the network vendor's software with W98 first edition?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean.
a wireless network uses the same protocols as a wired one, if tcp/ip works now for you then it would work over wireless.

The software that comes with Network hardware is setting up software (drivers etc.). The actual network software is part of the OS.

Some newer staff might have driver problem with OS prior to Win98SE.

I suggest that if you upgrade go with WinXP otherwise you will have to learn Network on Win98SE and within a year or so you will have to go with a new OS anyway, and learn once more.
