I am getting 20 to 30 e-mails a day from people and sites I don't know. I just trash them. How can I filter this crap that I am getting. Some of these e-mails have huge mpg files that take forever to download. I wish I could stop them, but if I cancel my "get Mail" the next time I "get Mail" these downloads start over again. Is my only solution to change my e-mail address?

What email client are you using...ie, how are you accessing your email?

I try to forward as much spam that I recieve as I can back to the sender's postmaster. In many cases they give formal warnings or flat-out ban the offending spammer. More people should do this - fight spam! (make sure you include full headers when doing so)

Rule number 1.
Never give out your personal email except to family and friends, use a web base email for all other, such as forms and websites registering.

Rule number 2.
Never EVER reply to a spam that says if you don't want this put unsubscibe in the header. That's telling the spammer that this email is live and you will be spammed forever. Don't respond and it might go away.

this is a beautiful thread that should go on forever.. I am overwhelmed by the amount of spam I get and would love to find a way to get it down to a reasonable amount since none seems to be out of the question

I don't know about Eudora, but in Outlook you can apply "rules" that will filter out e-mail that meets criteria you determine. ie: "hot young sluts" in the header

Newer versions of Eudora have filtering also.

I wish I had something that would make the mail bounce back to the spammers as if my e-mail address didn't exist or something
