What software will backup my HD on to CD?

if you want to back up the entire hard drive including your windows setup you can use a program like norton ghost or drive image pro. these will create bootable cds with an image of your hard drive so you can clone your hard drive basically.

Using one of these programs, will i be able to load the image back to a formatted HD with out loading Win back on first. That's what i'm trying to do.

That´s what you get when you backup it like this.

But if you want to just backup and maybe restore single files from the backups you will get problems as there is no possibility to get them out of the images (since i know).

My solution for this problem was Backup Exec Desktop Pro with Disaster Recovery.
Recover´s the system with bootable disc from CD´s or backups lets you restore file or
directory-wise.

My favorite app to backup the entire HDD is Powerquest Drive Image Pro 4.0. Compresses and burns to cd very easily.
