what software to transfer Vista to new HD

I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium on it, and I am trying to upgrade the hard drive.

The old drive is a WD Scorpio 250 gig SATA, the new drive is a WD Scorpio 640 gig SATA.

I have Ghost 10, which won't work with vista.

I tried installing both drives in a desktop machine running XP Pro, and was able to transfer the drive contents using Maxtor max blast 4. It showed 10 non-critical errors when it finished, but the new drive wouldn't boot up in the lap top.

What do I need to transfer the data either from my lap top (I have a cable that will connect the new SATA drive to the USB port) or via connecting them in my XP Pro desktop machine.

If there is an easy way to do it with yet another external drive I have that ability.

Any help is appreciated.

You can get acronis true image WD edition directly from western digital and you can clone your drives with that

If you still have the cloned drive that will not boot, you can put it back into your machine and boot off the vista install dvd and run the startup repair. That will fix the issue of it not booting.
