What software should I get to test a new build

I am about to get the parts of my new rig. It's my 2nd build, and I noticed that people talk about testing each individual part to see if it's working full potential. So I decided I should do that. I want to download all the best programs to test CPU, RAM, HDD, DVD, Video etc. I have visited some sites with software for this. But there are way too many options, and being new to this I don't have the knowledge of what's best. I've seen a lot of Prime95, Memtest, etc. But I will like to know from you guys, what should I get for each individual part. You would make it much easier.

There's no need to test "the individual parts" unless you are overclocking heavily.

For OC'ing, use Prime95 to test for stability, and Memtest to test for memory errors. As far as graphics are concerned, benchmark with 3Dmark or your favorite game.
