What software can save streaming mp3?

I traditionally use winamp to listen but I'd like to save an mp3 stream to disk.

if it is a .m3u file then the file itself is the location of the streamed mp3. paste that in your browser location bar and save it. Alternatively if you are using *nix: wget `cat *m3u`

I'm actually looking to save the content as an .mp3 file. I have a favorite radio station that streams in 160kb 24/7 with no commercials.

There is a more commercially available set of software called Twins Stream Ripper.

Personally, i like the sourceforge app. Its really small, fairly robust, and decently capable.

I would like to mention that while it does do a decent job at ripping strreams into MP3's you do have to configure where it puts the mp3's, how you want it to rip, etc. Its a Winamp Plugin (unless its been developed for more apps since i last looked at it months ago) so make sure you have Winamp 2.5 or above i think. I hate Winamp3 so i would personally go with 2.8. I've had the best luck with that version.

I sincerely hope not.

I fear for the new users out there that have heard about this "winamp" and go to the website only to unwittingly download Winamp 3 and be forced to deal with its near RealPlayer invasiveness.

That being said, half the damn formats that Winamp 2 was able to play aren't even visible to Winamp 3. It lasted on my system for about 2.45 minutes before being promptly deleted with extreme prejudice.
