For me I started out with Windows Mobile

Going from:

HTC Magician -> Samsung Blackjack II -> iPhone 3GS -> iPhone 4 -> HTC Inspire 4G -> Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) -> Samsung Focus -> Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) -> Samsung Galaxy Note II & Lumia 920 -> Finally HTC One

I tried the G1 but turned it in. Eventually got a Droid. Then HD7. Now Note 2.
Have an Atrix 2 as well but never used it as a phone. Got it second-hand to play with and see how Android had evolved. It helped me transition from WP7.

HTC Mogul -> HTC Touch Diamond -> HTC EVO 4G -> Samsung Galaxy S II (T-Mo T989) -> Galaxy Nexus -> Nexus 4

Toshina 2032SP (2003) > Hitachi G1000 (2003) > HTC PPC-6600 (2004) > Treo 700wx (2006) > iPhone 3G (2008) > iPhone 4 (2010) > Galaxy Nexus (2012) > iPhone 5 (2012)

That would cover my daily driver history.

BlackBerry Storm, Microsoft Kin One, Dell Venue Pro, Nokia Lumia 710, Motorola Droid, HTC Trophy, Nokia Lumia 920, HTC One

Verizon- Optimus (vortex), Incredible 1+2, thunderbolt (x2), fascinate, droid x, droid x2, stratosphere, droid charge, Razr M, droid Razr (current)
ATT- Infuse 4g (x2), skyrocket GS2
T-Mobile- Vibrant (x2), My Touch 4g
Virgin Mobile- Optimus V
Sprint- Evo 4g, GS2
Unlocked- Galaxy Nexus (x2)
Holy shit, I've never added them all up til now. I love tinkering with different phones and I must admit I'm glad I'm getting older because I don't like tinkering around too much anymore.

palm treo 650, 700wx, centro, bb 8330, htc vogue, htc diamond, palm pixi, optimus V, samsung galaxy slider, nexus S, samsung galaxy s2.

Oh, I tried the Pre for a week. Liked it, but they didnt have shit for apps and werent looking to ever get it.

Also tried for a few days each: Nokia E71, C6-01, BB bold 9200 and iPhone 4.

Nokia Symbian OS piece (used for a week then swapped for...) -> iPhone 3g (paid the extra $100 and swapped for 3gs a week later) -> iPhone 4 -> Droid Bionic (switched to Verizon from AT&T) -> Galaxy Nexus -> Razr M (used for two weeks then swapped for my current phone) -> iPhone 5

Razr M was near perfect for me. Perfect size, felt great in the hand and the phone as a whole, great battery life (slightly better than my iPhone 5) and great reception everywhere. Just got tired of some of Android's poorly put together pieces. Didn't like the stock mail app and didn't see any free alternatives. I live and die by email for work so it's a must. I could live with the screen but I do wish it was slightly higher PPI. Lastly it struggled playing some of the graphically intense games. Rarely if every play them but I would like that option at least.

iPhone 5 has some things I don't like. Seem to be getting so-so battery life. I'd like to at least make it through 2 days without charging. Could be because I'm JB though so I'll investigate.

Samsung Galaxy S -> Samsung Galaxy Nexus -> Nokia Lumia 800 -> LG Nexus 4

I really had no reason to get the Nexus 4 over then Galaxy Nexus. Not a large enough upgrade imo. Should have saved up and gotten an SGS4

Motorola Droid - iPhone 3GS - Lumia 710 - iPhone 4 - Samsung Captivate - Samsung Infuse - HTC One X - Nexus 4 - Verizon Galaxy Nexus - iPhone 5 - Galaxy S3 - Motorola Razr M

Nexus One, Droid Incredible, Droid X, Thunderbolt, Droid X2, Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Rezound, Galaxy Nexus, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid Razr Maxx HD

Motorola Droid ($200) -> Galaxy S2 AT&T ($20 on company plan)

I've really liked both of them a lot. Developer support and build quality is fantastic on both.

iPhone 3G through the 5, and a Galaxy Nexus as a sidearm. That said, I regularly use other phones for weeks at a time -- I've used just about every major platform at some point, and most recent flagships.

3GS to 4s
Got both on release day. Will get the next iPhone (5s/6) on release day as well.

Wife went from 4 to 5

Motorola Devour (I know, but seriously, the chassis was pretty amazing, great keyboard too) for a couple months in 2010, then the OG Droid, then the HTC Trophy in mid-2011. Still using the Trophy.

ATT 8525 (WM6) -> Touch Pro 2 (WM6.5) -> Palm Pre (borrowed for 1 month as a temporary) -> Nokia E71 (Straight Talk SIM swap, few months) -> iPhone 4 (Straight Talk, current)

All of the Windows Mobile phones were crap, but those were the types of phones out then. Some of the arguments I hear from Android fanboys are similar to what WM fanboys said back then. They would never admit any part of their phones was inferior to the iPhone 2G/3G.

Looking to upgrade soon but may wait for next Nexus (probably a long wait), or maybe HTC One/SGS4.

HTC Mogul > Palm Pre > Epic > Galaxy Nexus > Nexus 4

I'm disappointed that phones with keyboards are essentially all budget models now, but I've come to terms with it and don't miss it much anymore.

I've reached a point where I won't even consider a non Nexus device, it's just not worth the hassle and persistent frustration. Yes some are tempting (Razr Maxx HD, now the HTC One) but I have no desire to deal with rooting or ROMs and I won't compromise on the pure Android requirement.
