What size wire does this amp need?

you can't really go wrong with 4, but which model are you referring to

the General Tech specs are:

4-105A
6-80A
8-60A

and for 3-wire cables

4-70A
6-55A
8-40A
 
4 guage is a safe bet. Always match your ground guage to your power guage.
 
Here's a useful tip: don't buy an amp kit. Buy your wire at a local welding supply shop. And then buy a fuse holder and connectors separately. You'll save tons of money. My local welding supply shop has 4 gauge cable for $0.67/ft. I was able to buy 20 feet of 4 gauge, 10 feet of 2 gauge (for doing a 'big 3' upgrade) and a fuse holder for under $30.
