Morrowind. Fucking great. Mostly played it on Xbox, but never had a single crash or lost save.

Bring back the rare constant effect's!

If you had the Windows version you wouldnt need someone else to bring them back. You could make them yourself.

Like many others here, my longest game was PC Morrowind back in the days with mods. During the "golden" era of Morrowind and the modding community was vibrant, there literally were tons upon tons of mods that changed the game in such significant ways that you couldn't help but re-roll a new character and try things out. I remember playing Morrowind so much I could probably safely assume I rolled probably 30ish characters to high level end-game easily. It never got dull, and it was good times. I remember stopping all of that for (out of all things) Anarchy Online, my first MMO which hooked me for two years.

Yeah probably NWN #1 for me, follwoed by Baldur's gate series... but if you are talking about the original campaign only then probably BG2.

For first person shooters I'd say Far Cry.

Oh yeah... spent a ton of time on silent hunter 3 and sid meier's pirates, as well.

I played Total Annihilation single player for almost a year and a half exclusivly. I don't think it tracks hours, that must be an MMO/RPG thing. Or you guys are pulling numbers out of your a$$ :D

I may have played more hours of Doom/Duke Nukem/Battlefield1942(+DC)/Battlefield 2(+DCON), but that was mostly online multiplayer.

I have 117 hours on my current Disgaea 3 game. I had about that or more on my Disgaea 1 game.

One of king bounty the legend (played 6 full games; each one takes around 30 hour); wizardry 8 (pity it can't be easily moded); farcry (esp like doing the boat scenario over and over - I'm fully impressed how each scenario can be done totally different; with a totally different path - much better than crysis or half life 2 linear path).

CIV easily. I, II, III, IV all added up would probably destroy the play time for every other game ever played combined by me.

I played around 300 or 400 hours of Oblivion with the same character. I would have played longer (there were a few quests I hadn't done, and I wanted to do the Assassins Guild quests) but I formatted my drive, and forgot to save a savegame file.

I could literally see myself still playing this same game (off and on) a year from now. I only have 7 or 8 factories spread out over 3 sectors, and I haven't even explored the entire map yet. I figure I'm not very far into the main plot yet, but that doen't matter since it just seems to be a way to get into the various aspects of the game.

I probably played Morrowind for 70-80 hours; Gothic 2 took me about 75 hours.

So, just out of curiosity, what's the longest amount of time people here have played the same single player game.

Does anybody still have a really old game going (like Daggerfall)?

X2? What game is that?

Final Fantasy Tactics

The counter stops at 999.99 hours, so I don't know exactly how long I've played past that number.

Diablo II and Counter Strike 1.6 come to mind as huge timesinks as well.

It always boggles me how someone can like Morrowind more. In fact, I haaaaaated Morrowind and loved Oblivion (and love Fallout 3 even more). Morrowind was terrible imo.

I have a little over 200 hours into Fallout 3 at this point.

There may have been a game back in the day that took up more of my time, Bard's Tale (the original), Baldur's Gate, something like that. In recent years tho, Fallout 3 is the only one I can think of that I've sunk such a massive amount of gaming time into.

Rainbow 6 Vegas, but that isn't saying much. I usually beat a game one on hard and move on. A few games I have played through twice. But on R6V I went back, repeatedly, and played the custom missions where you pick a map and a number of random enemies, and you have to take them all out. I enjoyed trying to beat them with just a handgun and a silencer, or frankly, just trying to beat them at all.

The first game I remember playing that had a timer was SNES Final Fantasy 2. Our first run through took me and my buddy about 30 hours. Eventually I got so good at that game I could get up to the final boss with 8:30 on the timer. But that requires mastery of the game few possess or care to acquire. Playing FF2 over and over again is pretty much pointless. Mostly because its exactly the same each and every time. At least FF3 would be a little different depending on who you had in your party and what Espers you focused on.

I dont even wanna guess how much time I've put into Final Fantasy 1. By comparison to today's games, that sucker was a HUGE grindfest of leveling up and saving to purchase over priced goodies.

When I had the Playstation version of FF7 I put about 80 or so hours into it, mostly to level up and get a buttload of master materia so I could beat the Emerald and Ruby Weapons. Then I went and stomped Sephiroths butt in about 3 rounds. On later run-throughs of the Windows version, I didnt put in nearly as much time trying to master materia and such.

First run-through of Baldurs Gate 2 I'm sure I put in about 200 hours. Eventually I would learn the game very well and also use a character editor to increase my PC's run speeds. That doesnt do much of anything in combat, but it speeds up normal gameplay considerably. Same with the Turbo code in Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. Those games are painfully long seeing as most of the time is spent jogging around. With Turbo speed I can get a normal game done in about 12-15 hours. Without it my completion times are closer to 30 hours.
Morrowind and Oblivion its hard to say since I have been through several characters on each game. I'd say my longest for Morrowind (in one character) was about 600 hours. Longest for Oblivion was close to 1000. Yup, despite the fact I loved Morrowinds gameplay much more, I actually spent a little more time with ES 4, probably because of Mods. Also with both games I often get tired and find a super encumberance mod and also artificially increase my running speed.

Deus Ex I've done more than a dozen times. Wish I could tell you an average for each run through, but they get considerably faster as I learn it better & better. The running augmentation does not seem to appreciably affect the length of the game, since you have to turn it off constantly to save power. I'm never able to keep it active throughout a level.
