Verizon did something to my connection a few weeks ago. Now it's not as responsive as b4. Is 117ms a good repsonse time? or is it just my imagination?

Ping times depend on both your connection and the server/device you are pinging, and on every single device between your computer and the destination. I have never seen Yahoo ping lower than 100ms. I'm on a dedicated OC3 line (at work) right now and get 132ms pings to Yahoo.com.

As ssbpgsr said, try some other reliable servers and see what results you get.
