What should refresh rate be?

I just reinstalled my Geforce 4 ti4200 with my Sony 19 inch monitor, and the text and icons on the screen seem a little blurry, or it seems like they are kinda shaking....and after awhile it gives me headaches looking at the screen.... So is it the refresh rate, or what? It started out on 120 hertz, and I've lowered it a couple of times, it seemed to help a little bit, but doesn't seem to be what it was before I reinstalled the video card.

Thanks

If the picture is flickering then it could be the refresh rate, but if it is shaking then it's probably something else. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to refresh rates, but typically 85Hz is the standard.

Make sure you don't set the resfresh rate higher than your monitor can handle. If you went past that you could have damaged your monitor.

BTW: i use 85Hz and it's not bad

As high as your monitor can handle (though past about 85 you probably won't notice much of a difference). Check the monitor specs before you try anything, since you can really fry the monitor if you go too high. As said before you want 85+Hz.
