It depends on which country you are from. If you are from Western Europe, you most likely can expect ~$85k. If you are from Eastern Europe/Middle East, expect ~$65k. If you are from South Asia/East Asia (excluding Japan), you can expect ~$45k.

70K to 100K is my best guess.
the 120K and 150K numbers are bullsh1t for 6 years of experience. that only makes sense if you jumpship to management.

And he has 6 years experience, he won't be looking for a starting position. If he was an American he'd probably make 80-100k.

So you do have an idea. Where's your hospitality. Like we say, "Today I come in your tent, tomorrow you come in my tent". Gotta do that with the appropriate accent though.

:D

Well I had a vague idea, but I didn't want to mislead you if I was wrong. Other people confirmed I was in the right ballpark. :)

6 years is about the max before your brain fades out and you become the management type ;) Not me though!

Yea, figured ~90k might be closer.
See, that's why I asked in the first place :D 90K is still reasonable by US standards, I assume, but not something I'd like to go through the process of relocation for (especially not when I'm quite happy at my current workplace).

I say 100k, I know people with 6-7 years experience making 100k + , what sort of education do you have, do you have a Bachelors or Masters. Also depends on where you get a job, 100k is in Calfornia/Seattle. New York etc, 100k in midwest/texas would be a lot, then you are looking more at 80-90k

Are you speaking hypothetically? What do you mean by "would you believe that"? If that's where your from, then it's just me believing your word?

I don't get it. People don't have a single problem believing all the crap they see on TV, yet they won't believe me that I live in Israel :D
(I'm really from Israel)

Indeed.

I find most people really over inflate 'expected' salaries!

Sorry but I am not as optimistic. 120k for the "top for guys in the field" does not mean to me you would make that. In my experience people who are not US citizens will generally make less pay than people who are, and rightfully so. More paperwork is involved, and long-term loyalty is often a question unless you are planning on permanently settling in the US. 6 years experience is moderate, and I don't see anything that would lead me to believe that you are the top candidate in your field for a job. You might get 120k in a very high-cost city such as boston or new york, but even then it would be considered a generous amount in my mind. In the midwest or less expensive cities, 80k would be an amount to get excited over.

there was a thread recently about all the high tech companies in israel, so i dunno why anyone wouldn't believe you

the salary thing is going to depend on the company and city. if you are talking NYC, then 120K-150K may be plausible

if the company is small and in a rural area, then 60K-80K might be more inline

that sounds like a fairly specialized job, so i would guess you would make good money for the market you would be living in

I used to work for Motorola in the Silicon Valley area ... If you're as good as you say you are you can probably max-out around 120k a year. Realistically expect around 100-110.
