What resolution are you playing at? Any other games important?

I would go with an i5 4690k and any decent z97 mobo. It would also help you a lot to overclock the CPU because CS GO is a very CPU dependent game.

So why 300fps? It will do absolutely nothing.

Stop being difficult. You don't need 300 fps. Period. What you need is 120 FPS minimum frame rate. 120 constant framerate (e.g. 120 fps minimum) at 120hz is maxed out, there is nothing better on a 120hz monitor. This is not my opinion, its verifiable fact. That will keep it 100% smooth with vsync on. In CS:GO this will require fast single thread, so 4670k overclocked is your best choice for processors.

Or, if people are all saying you're wrong, perhaps you need to rethink your original needs.

This is like a person coming on here to post "The sky is red!!!" and then when we all post facts to show him otherwise they get upset and cry about it.

If you don't want to listen to knowledge, don't come to a technical forum. Go to some place where they'll give you what you "need" and be happy. Don't come here though yelling at members who are attempting to educate you on your misinformed beliefs.

You're giving your OPINION. People are attempting to educate you with facts.
Liek you said in your ORIGINAL post you're a rookie. If you weren't a rookie, you wouldn't be posting on here asking us how to upgrade to get 300 FPS. You would have gone ahead and done it. Try and actually learn something when you ask a question on a technical forum rather than just thinking you know everything.

If you knew everything you wouldn't be here in the first place.

I think he means 300 fps average so his minimum will never ever go below 120 when there is a lot going on in the game.
