La Brea Tar Pits
Sunset Blvd

Then there's a plethora of things to do/visit in OC (1 hr away) and San Diego (2 hours away) if you feel like driving and getting out of LA for a bit.

Oh my God, that Stinking Rose place looks awesome. I LOVE garlic.

If you like prime rib, Lawry's Prime Rib restaurant is nearby the Stinking Rose.

Unfortunately, I'm the the other side of the country, so going to either one isn't really a possibility. 😛

Hehe yeah, I see. I was still replying in the mindset of recommending things to visitors/new residents.

i hear compton is nice around this time of the year

i went to compton, crenshaw and watts during visits to LA. i didnt have many problems at all, even when my car broke down in watts at 5pm. a couple guys actually helped me out getting running again.

id say walk down hollywood blvd after dark, thats always a fun trip. i had a good time there, lots of interesting people to watch, some cool stores and stuff to meander around. i also had fun going to various beaches and watching the crowds.

I can't facepalm hard enough to end myself.

tourist trap, DO NOT GO

Never been there honestly, but I've heard they're awesome from other people 🙁

Those same people probably think cheesecake factory is the epitome of LA dining.

decent dog slathered with shitty quality ingredients followed by a ridiculous line filled with tourists who don't know better

trust me, it's good. not any more spectacular than vanilla ice cream, but good.

oh and you will literally sweat garlic for a few days. best to go on the night before a long holiday weekend so you don't offend people at work.

No clue, but Stinking Rose is pretty good 😛 Houston's is pretty good food too, but there's a few of those in other states as well. For fast food dining, there's also In & Out, which everyone seems to have to try once while out on the west coast.

Ns1: I think I need your list of fine dining eats in LA, something to do on "date nights" with the s/o.

Which also reminds me: Aquarium in Long Beach, but that's quite a bit of a drive.

Yeah me and JS80 are your resident LA foodies.

He seems to be more the baller foodie whereas I'm more the hole-in-the-wall foodie

lol

Pink's is waaay overrated. Definitely not worth 30 plus minutes in line for. It's not bad, just not worth the wait in my opinion just go to Tommy's instead. I remember when I was in Junior High there was never a line for Pink's, how things change.

LOL, lots of hate for LA...

I like it a lot so far.

give it some time. say, 5 more weeks. by that time, you'll have been stalked, mugged, stared down by gangstas, involved (not voluntarily) in a drive by, witnessed a robbery, and witnessed a murder. Keep MotionMan's number handy, you''l need it. 😛

rasczak waves from sunny san diego 😉

LOL. I have lived in LA for 12 years. I have never been stalked, mugged, stared down by gangstas, involved (not voluntarily) in a drive by or witnessed a murder.

I did witness a robbery once.

San Diego is nice though.

MotionMan

Haha I kid. We go up to L.A. a lot to visit my wife's clan (over 100 + cousins/aunt's uncles) and her brother lives there too so I'll surf Huntington with him every so often. L.A. though is just too big for me.

You have to go to the one in Rampart though.

Gyu Kaku is awesome though, for Japanese BBQ if you want to try any of that. Their Sukiyaki Bibimbap is REALLY good. It's kind of pricey though... But they do have some nice all you can eat deals on weekends.
