Hi,
im currently considering buying a TFT over a convertional monitor.
What sort of specs to i need to look for and why.
About all i know about TFTs upto now is that a low responce time is ideal, and that refresh rates on them dont matter as much.

Is this a good monitor?

Hitachi CML174SXWB 17" TFT Monitor (Carbon)
17" Screen size(equilivent to 19" CRT)
Active Matrix Colour TFT
Responce timet tr:12ms + tf: 4ms Typ (16ms)
Viewing angle (H) 160*
Viewing angle (V) 160*
Colours 262K
Brightness 260cdm-²
Contrast 400:1
Backlight Life >40,000 hours
Reccomended Res 1280*1024@60hz
D-SUB/DVI-D Inputs.

thanx in advance

Those are just gaming related LCD threads. I sifted through about 50 other vanilla threads.

What 8 not enough?

By the way, that monitor is quite possibly the best gaming monitor in existance. Planar and BenQ will releasing their own 17" 16ms monitors very soon. Odds are, they'll essentially be the same monitor just with different bezel and logo on the front.

Thanks for the reply/s,
I`d look at the threads that you put, before i posted, but my main reason for this thread i cos i wanted to know about the Hitachi in particular. I read a review on it about 10mins after i posted, at gamepc.com and they highly reccommend it.
I`d have a look at the manufacturers that you mentioned, but i`ve never heard of them, and i tend to stick to well known brands(for support & stuff), plus they sell the hitachi at my local pc shop Overclockers UK.
Do you think that its a good match for a 9700PRO(hercules one, also from OCUK).
