I've a Radeon 9600 np right now.

I wish there's a get both, but I'm poor. It's either one or the other.

EDIT: Out of those, I'd get the ps2. Not enough of an upgrade diff between your 9600 and the 9800 pro. Just oc your card a bit.

Have you considered the new x700? Under 200 on pricewatch.
 
Are you much of a console gamer? Do you have any other consoles? If not, then get the PS2. If you do I'd say..wait a bit longer then get a vid card.
 
I absolutely agree. Most people I know would gladly buy a PS2 over a video card (esp. when those are their only 2 choices and they see what the prices are for each).

Only console I've is PS1.

I want a PS2 so that I can play the latest RPG game and EA Sport games

you seem to be on a budget. Can you afford the ps3 at the release price point?

Get the ps2 now, or the vid card. Again, consider the 6800 from Compusa, or the 6600gt or the ati x700 for vid cards.
 
actually, get a ps2 from BB with a 2 year extended warranty ($15 for me about 3 weeks ago)

that way, if your ps2 breaks, and its within 2 years, you get ps3 as a replacement if its already out
 
PS2 you can get on eBay for about $130 (unless you're looking for slimline)

Personally, I got the slimline PS2 because . . . .welll . . . I'm a NON-conformist . . .

Who in the world would need a Hard Drive and iLink?!?! Psh, I got a Network Adapter BUILT-IN 😀
 
I would go for the PS2. Theres heaps of really good games available.
Save up some money and get a new Vid card at a later date.

that is possible, yet not likely.

Sony will likely keep the PS2 on the markt in a similar way to how they kept the PS1 on the market after the ps2 came out.
