What should I get, R9500 or R9500 PRO?

Both of these are available at about the same price point ($20-25 diff) with 128MB.

I'd take the PRO hands down, but it would be sweet to turn the 9500 into a 9700, and save more than $100.

Of course, I'd like to turn my computer to linux soon... so that won't make much of a diff then, since I don't think there's any hack for 9500->9700 there. Still, I'll probably be gaming under Windows.

Help!

From what I've read around here, the success rate of 9500np--> 9700 speeds is about 30-40% chance. Also you need the red pcb version with the L shaped ram. If your a gambling man, then go for it. Personally I have the 9500Pro, and it performs very well with AA, and AF quality settings.

For just a few bucks more, I'd be safe and get the PRO. Besides if you crave more performance, you can flash the bios and overclock, or even spend about $40 more and get the 9700np.

My vote is for the 9500pro, or the 9700np, both are excellent cards imo!
