Don't Laugh I'm serious. My first thought was a linux box. I saved this and a few other things (32mb fpm ram, sound card)from the Packard Hell i used up untill the begining of this year. When I replaced it with my first built computer (I'm hooked) A k6-3 450.I'm highly interested in the IT world and I need somemore practice here. What would you recommend i do with it?

 
Well, if your multi hobbied like I am....Thats a mp3 player for your car just waiting to happen......And if you put winamp w/ geiss and a good tv in your ride......Can we say geek 2 pimp? 🙂
 
an MP3 box? a p100 really doesnt have the power to do that well at all.

Making a keychain out of it really is the most fun idea but like Wah said, donating it would be a nice thing to do with it as well. throw a really cheap box together and give it to the salvation army or something for some poor kid.

Otherwise I'd just use it as a paperweight or something. Show off that you had a badass processor back in the day 😀
 
If you really want some practical IT knowledge, load linux, get and install Apache web server (it is freeware too). Learn about how web servers work. Learn about CGI scripts and java.
 
A P-100 should play MP3s fine, if that's the only thing it does. Don't know about the higher bitrates, but I do know that my old Cyrik 120 (yes a Cyrix - shriek!) could play 128k MP3s.
 
My old P-75 was a paperweight, until I EEbay'd it for $10 clams 🙂

...I have another one (P-75) w/ MB, a 4x cd-rom...STB 4 meg video card and an old Hayes 28.8...140W AT PS, if you are need of some components....cheap 🙂
 
I like Rickr's idea about learning more about IT tech. Now I just have to get some old hardware so I can build this box. Motherboard is my main stumbling stone. I don't want to put a lot of green into this. If I had the $$ i'd build a duron rig.

Starting to look like A Keychain almost got the drill out!😱😀
